We were told no in training, but are now being pressured to use the internet (reverse lookup, assessor's office, real estate sites, etc) to GET IT DONE. Depends on who your talking to and where you're at.

In WIsconsin we used computer as a resource for our application of EQ's Follow-up and NRFU-VDC. Sure via an oberservation of site and interviews with neighbors not found or references to property. County Listings Office has a program that lets…

Technology - Why are Enumerators Prohibited from Using Internet to Assist in Locating Occupants

There seems to be different standards and rules for different areas of the country.  Our Local Census Office prohibits the use of the internet to assist in locating owners and/or occupants. Internet resources such as the reverse address search on phonenumber.com and local tax records online would be useful in identifying and contacting owners to act as proxies.  Just curious:Anybody know of areas where use of the internet as an enumerating tool is permitted?  Anybody know why it isn't permitted…See More

Interesting Development from the National Association of REALTORS: Listing agents aren't required by law to respond to Census inquiries.
